Product Information

Genistein is a natural compound that belongs to the class of polyphenols. It is found in soybeans and other plants and has been shown to have a wide range of biological properties. Genistein binds to DNA and inhibits transcription, protein synthesis, angiogenesis, and cell proliferation. It has also been shown to have an anti-tumorigenic effect on some cancer cells. Genistein has also been shown to inhibit the activity of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) such as MMP-9. MMPs are enzymes that degrade collagen in the extracellular matrix, which plays an important role in tumor invasion and metastasis. The drug transporter model system for genistein was developed by using Caco-2 cells as a model system for intestinal absorption and transport processes. This model system showed that genistein exhibits high affinity binding with basic proteins present in the intestine
